Welcome

Dear Panther Families,

 

What a great year we had during the 2018-2019 school year!  As a community, we were able to bring numerous activities and events to our school so our students and families could enjoy.  I hope you are spending quality time with your loved ones this summer and our students are getting some R&R before the new school year begins.   

Throughout this past month, our Leadership Team has spent a great deal of time planning an amazing school year for our students and families.  Kudos to their commitment in wanting the best for our staff, students and parents. You will all be amazed at the rigorous instructional strategies they have committed our staff to engage our students with throughout the year.  Our families and students will absolutely be thrilled about returning to school this year.   Some changes have taken place throughout the summer to our bell schedule, dismissal procedures and lunch prices. 

A New Bell Schedule for the 19-20 School Year

We will have a staggered start and a staggered release time this year.

TK-3rd: 8:15am - 2:11pm

4th-5th: 8:00am - 2:18pm

As always, the cafeteria will open for students beginning at 7:15 AM.  Please DO NOT drop you student off before this time as there is no adult supervision prior to 7:15 AM.   

Minimum Day/Early Release Dismissal

Every Thursday, beginning August 8, 2019

TK-3rd: 8:15am-1:06pm

4th-5th: 8:00am - 1:03pm

Parking/Pick-up and drop-off

  • The lane closest to the curb in the front of the school is for school buses only.Please DO NOT PARK along the curb in front of the school.
  • The middle lane, next to the bus lane (along the red line) is for dropping off and picking up students; please DO NOT PARK or leave your car unattended in this lane.
  • The third lane, closest to the street, is for through traffic only.
  • DO NOT PARK or leave your car unattended in the middle lane.  If you need more time when dropping-off or need to wait for your student, please find a parking space to reduce congestion and support open traffic flow.
  • During pick up time, cars will be directed all the way up to the Kinder area as students will no longer wait in the front area.  Our SSA's will be calling for students as parents approach the pick up lane.  Students will be released from Gate #2, the Office Gate and the Cafeteria.  

Cafeteria/Meals

  • Be sure to complete the lunch application online: www.schoollunchapp.com
  • Breakfast – (FREE) includes entrée, fruit, milk
  • Lunch – ($2.25) includes entrée, fruit/vegetables, milk.

Student Emergency Supplies Kits

  • You will receive directions on this the first week of school.

Parent Volunteers 

  • We welcome and encourage volunteers.  In order to provide for the safety of all our students ALL volunteers (on campus, in-classroom and/or attending field trips) must submit to the application process including (Live Scan screening).  The applicant must also submit an annual completed Volunteer Application Form (available in office) and verification of TB clearance every 4 years.
  • Applicants must: complete Volunteer Application, provide valid government issued picture ID, and TB clearance; these are to be submitted to the office for signature by the Principal.  Next steps will be provided following submission of completed application including directions for the Live Scan process.
  • We highly encourage you to get the process started before the beginning of the school year so that there is no delay in your clearance to begin volunteering.

Guests on Campus

All guests must report immediately to the front office, sign-in, and wear a “Visitor” pass.  Guests will not be allowed on campus or into classrooms without advanced planning and approval from teacher AND Principal and are also subject to the volunteer requirements outlined above.

Uniforms

  • Palm Elementary follows the district uniform policy. (HLPUSD District Handbook, pgs. 14-16)
  • Uniform waiver forms will be available July 22nd and must be completed and submitted to the school by August 6, 2019.
  • School uniforms/dress code is to be followed Monday-Friday.  Thursdays are designated “College Shirt Day” and Fridays are “School Pride/ Spirit Wear” days.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 7th.  We hope you are able to join us and able to take lots of photos of your child's first day of school.  We will make this another memorable experience for your child and your family.  As always, be safe, respectful and responsible.
